What are my qualifications?

I trained as a Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapist, with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. The Diploma, which integrates hypnosis with CBT techniques (Hypno-CBT®) and mindfulness, is the only externally verified hypnotherapy training programme approved by The British Psychological Society Learning Centre.  I am a 'Registered Hypnotherapist' with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and I hold The General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice.  (GHR is at:  www.general-hypnotherapy-register.com

What can Hypnotherapy help you with?

Hypnotherapy can be used to help uncover and remove triggers that may be causing unexpected problems.

While working together, where appropriate, we can work to tackle any general confidence issues that may be holding you back from doing things like speaking in public, passing tests and examinations, succeeding in interviews, losing weight, having low self esteem or low self-confidence. 

Can everyone be hypnotised? Can you hypnotise me?

You may be surprised to hear that the answer to this question is undoubtedly ‘virtually everyone’. However, with that said, some people are more readily hypnotisable than others and it will also depend on how open minded you are, how willing you are to be hypnotised at the time.  If you come with the mindset of "you won't hypnotise me!" - it's going to be significantly harder to achieve a good outcome for you.

Can CB Hypnotherapy help my phobia?

  • YES!

Among other things habits, fears and phobias, stress and anxiety are all things that can get out of hand. 

Fortunately, hypnotherapy can be extremely effective in helping people get over fears and phobias.

Some common phobias (with very complicated names) include, Acrophobia (fear of spiders), Trypanophobia (fear of injections or needles), Coulrophobia (fear of clowns), Acrophobia (fear of heights), Aviatophobia (fear of flying); but the list of phobias is long and can include virtually anything. 

Can CB Hypnotherapy help me with my Stress and Anxiety?

Hypnosis is of enormous help in reducing stress and/or anxiety levels, though there are two distinctly different methods of treatment. Whether you need help for a 'one-off' situation like a driving test, for example, or a more persistent and possibly deeper-rooted problem, Hypnotherapy can help you.

  • How many sessions will I need?

This is one of the most common questions.  I have also been asked to 'fix me now'.  It is unlikely, in most cases, that one session will be sufficient.  However, we will form a clearer idea during our initial appointment.  In general, for many issues, it is possible that two or three sessions, spread over a month or so, are sufficient.

Following on from that:


Our first face-to-face appointment is very important.  I am currently offering the option of my holding these sessions in the comfort of your own home.  This appointment could take between 1 - 1.5 hours. This time will ensure we discuss your situation fully, ensure we both have all the information needed and it will allow you the time to get comfortable with me, to ask questions and put your mind at ease. I will  also take this time to introduce you to hypnosis and explain the process. 


I will question you gently and listen to you very carefully. I will make notes of your reasons for seeking hypnotherapy, your history and the goals you want to achieve. Through this we will get to the heart of what you want and need from hypnotherapy and we will work to devise a approach that is right for you.  We will also agree the number of sessions you may need to achieve the amazing results you deserve.  This could range from 2 - 4 sessions, but everyone is unique so we will discuss what is appropriate for you.

One size never fits all and it is very important to get this right.  In essence what we will be creating is a road map to help you achieve your desired goals in the most efficient and effective way, tailor made for you.


I’m worried you will make me do something silly.  I’ve seen people on stage do really odd stuff!


Yes we've all seen that!  Entertainment hypnosis relies on compliance, expectation from the audience and perception of what the audience expects. In fact, if you should choose to go to an entertainment hypnotist, you may be going with the express intention of having fun and being asked to do silly things. 

Unfortunately, ‘stage hypnosis’ infers the hypnotic subject is controlled by the hypnotist, subjects have no control over their actions, that they may get 'stuck' in a hypnotic ‘trance’/embarrass themselves. 


Let me assure you: you wont get 'stuck' in a hypnotic trance and people who would not want to do silly or surprising things at a show like this, would simply refuse to do so!


Will I be in control of myself?

It is important to realise that, during your hypnotherapy sessions with me, YOU will be in control at all times. You will remain able to talk (if you want to -some people prefer not to communicate verbally during hypnosis) and you can stand up and leave the room at any time! 

You will probably remember all that happens, even though you should feel very relaxed. 

It is important to understand that we would not step outside of our normal boundaries while in a hypnotic state.  Within each of us there is a protective mechanism of ethics, values, beliefs and identities, which protect you as an individual. It would be as crazy to suggest that you would ever lose control of those values!

I can assure you that I respect your ethics, values and beliefs. You will always be treated with the utmost respect, and your confidentiality will be safeguarded.

How will I feel when I am under hypnosis?

Hypnosis produces a feeling of calm, comfort and relaxation.  You will still hear everything going on around you although you choose not to take any notice of outside intrusions anything you do hear doesn't bother you at all. So hypnosis is NOT a loss of control; instead it is rather like having a deeply relaxed journey that guides you to your inner resources

It is wonderful to see how people's view of hypnosis changes after the first session and how keen they are to come back and do it again!

Many people would agree there is nothing nicer than spending some time in deep relaxation when there is nothing to think about other than how good it feels to be so relaxed!
